Preflight that actually matters

The HAMILTON-T1® is a turbine ICU ventilator that happens to fit in a helicopter. Treat the preflight like you would a flight control check — not a vibes check.

Power and gas

Confirm AC or inverter, battery state, and that the turbine spins without a wall air hose. The T1 does not need piped air. It does need a working O2 source and a planned bottle duration.

Circuit and leak

Adult or peds circuit, HME or heated circuit per program, expiratory valve seated. Run the tightness test. A failed test on the pad is cheaper than a disconnect alarm at 3,000 ft.

Patient profile first

Sex and height write the IBW that every mL/kg number depends on. Leaving the last patient's 175 cm male in the T1 is how a 160 cm woman gets 9 mL/kg all night.

Alarms before you leave the bay

Pmax / Plimit, low VTE, low MV, apnea time. If you inherit ICU limits of VTE 80 mL you will never hear the disconnect.

The on-screen ventilator is a training layout — not a photograph of the HAMILTON-T1® and not Hamilton software. We will not chase a photo of the box. Crews set the breath from IBW, the lung, sedation, and the gas. ASV® is here so you can recognize it, not as the Flight Crew Buddy default.
